but why?

The chemicals and silicones and all that stuff that are in shampoos and conditioners only really strip our hair of its natural oils in order to give it that luxurious look. The reason you have to wash your hair so often is because that luxurious look is fake, its straight out of the bottle, and your hair gets so oily so fast because its trying to make up for all that it’d lost.

So its this thing where people will go “no poo” and cut shampooing and conditioning out of their lives. C: They switch to natural products, such as baking soda and apple cider vinegar and they don’t wash nearly as often. When transitioning to this, its really tough because your scalp is so used to having to compensate for the damage done by shampoos that it is still producing a lot more oil than it needs to. If you google “no poo method with pictures” or something like that, you can find girls who documented their first six weeks without, and some women who have posted photos of their hair after months without washing with shampoos and conditioners. Some people have even said that switching to no poo has helped rid them of common problems like dandruff and whatnot!

I don’t know if I’m really willing to commit to this forever, but its certainly cheaper than using the usual hair products and I have put my hair through a lot, what with all the dying I used to do to it. So I’m giving it a try!
